Transliteration systems:
There are many transliteration systems used by scholars of Islamic Studies and related fields. In North America the primary system is that of the International Journal of Middle Eastern Studies (IJMES), American Library Association / Library of Congress (ALA/LC) as well the Brill’s EI3 system. In Europe there are other systems such as the ZDMG (Zeitschrift der Deutschen Morgenländischen Gesellschaft) system, in use before 1935.
In order to facilitate usage on Mac computers I have created a special keyboard layout that helps in this effort.
This keyboard layout works with the following Mac OS versions (Catalina, 10.15 as well as the previous version Mojave 10.14 and High Sierra 10.13) for older Mac operating systems a different keyboard layout is used.
